The Tiny Princess. (The Never Ending Story).

Year 3 have been exploring narratives.  We are experts on Orientation, Complication and Resolutions.  We are even adding the coda to our writing. With the help of Mrs Weatherby, we shared the orientation and complication of a narrative, but it was up to us to write the resolution and coda.   We divided the group into boys and girls and each came up with a different ending.  We would love you to read and vote on the ending that you like best.  Good luck to each group!!!

The shared beginning.
The Tiny Princess.

Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived a tiny princess, no larger than a pea.
She spent her days dancing and playing with the beautiful garden fairies until their gardens were destroyed by two nasty giants, who didn’t like to see the Princess and the fairies happy.  The Princess was devastated.  She cried and cried until the fairies told her that if she closed her eyes and wished for the gardens to return to their beauty, and she really believed it would happen, her wish would come true.

The boys' ending

So the Tiny Princess closed her eyes and made a wish.  "I wish to grow and grow until I am triple the size of the giants"
As soon as she stopped speaking, she felt things start to change. Suddenly everything looked smaller. She was enormous!

"Time for another wish", said the fairy.

"I wish for an electric device to ZAP these destructive giants", the Princess said.

The Princess felt a small shock in her shoe. She removed her shoe and found a Taser. That night the Princess tiptoed to the land of the giants, tasered them and stomped on their houses.

"There, that should do the trick!" she said.

For the next few days the Princess and the fairies fixed up the garden. It was beautiful, blooming with flowers, strawberry plants and weed eating bunnies. It even had a disco.

The Fairy said to the Princess, "Now the giants have gone and the garden is stunning once more. All has returned to normal, except for one thing. You, dear Princess must return to your tiny size". Within the blink of an eye, the Princess was the size of a pea.

With teamwork all things are possible. They all lived happily ever after.

The girls ending

The Princess thought long and hard about what to wish for.  If she wished for a new garden the giants could return to destroy it again.
As the tiny princess lay on her back looking up into the branches of the largest tree in the garden a fantastic idea came to her tiny brain.

She would wish for a brand new garden high in the top most branches of this tall tree.  Then the giants would never be able to get at it. It would be the most beautiful garden ever.  So she closed her eyes really really tight and made her wish.

As she opened her eyes she saw the most magnificent garden she had ever seen, perched high in the branches.  The fairies quickly flew high up to the garden to see how beautiful it was.

Unfortunately the Tiny Princess couldn't get up into her new garden.  She sat sadly in the destroyed garden. "Oh why did I make my garden so high? I can't get there"

As she sat crying, the fairies heard her sobs and called for Mrs Serena Spider. They pleaded with her to spin some thread so they could attach it to the Tiny Princess. BUMP! The Tiny Princess felt a thud on the ground beside her.  It was a gum nut.  She climbed in and the spider slowly pulled her up into the tree tops.  They spent lots of time playing and dancing in their new garden.

One day the fairies and the Tiny Princess heard some loud noises coming from the bottom of the tree.  When they looked down they saw the giants cleaning up the mess they made.  The giants had been away and had realised how awful that had been.  They decided to fix the garden for the tiny Princess to show how sorry they were.

When they had finished, the garden was more magnificent than it was originally.  They stood at the bottom of the tree and called out. "Little Princess, little Princess please come back down and see what we have done. We are soooooo sorry that we destroyed your garden."
The Tiny Princess felt sorry for the giants. So she climbed inside the gum nut and Serena Spider lowered her down where the giants caught her in their enormous hands.

From this day on the giants, the fairies and the Tiny Princess lived happily ever after.

  1. Oh my goodness!!
These resolutions are amazing. What imaginations you all have. I had fun writing these with you all. I loved the fact that our ending were FAR better than the true ending of the story. Maybe we should be authors.

  4. Wow Year 3! Your writing is excellent. It's hard to decide which ending was better. They were both very different and I can see that you all worked very hard on them. Keep up the great work!
